Club Updates from General Manager Nancy Terrell

Please note that we will no longer charge the extra $5 for people not signing up within 24 hours ahead for a tennis clinic. It was too complicated to manage, and members felt we were being too picky. But PLEASE PLEASE sign up ahead of time for all tennis clinics. The pros really need your help with this. Thank you!

Please also note that Kids' Club is now available on Monday afternoons, as well as all the previously offered times. (See all KC hours at the bottom of the newsletter.)

Thanks to those of you that filled out our survey asking for fitness equipment feedback. Pretty much everyone is on the same page as we are, and we will continue in our process of getting quotes for some new weight room equipment.
Speaking of surveys, we did not do a good job sharing with everyone last year about the award Avila Bay Club won. We use a top-notch survey system called Medallia (the same company used by large companies like Nordstrom) with a special division for the fitness industry called MXM. Within MXM, we are ranked against other high-end clubs across the country and routinely come in as one of the top clubs! It is clear you love your club - to the extent that we were awarded the highest honor of what they call a 5 -9  Award, three times in the past. This came from averaging a score of 9 or higher in 5 key categories. We were just told this week that we won the award yet again for 2023! This makes us four-time winners now. We share this absolute honor of receiving the award four times with less than 10 total clubs (out of over 600!). Even more fun is that our sister club Westlake Athletic Club is also a four-time winner!

In case you wonder if there are any trends in our recent surveys, there are some. Members love the staff friendliness, our Kids' Club staff friendliness averages a 10 out of 10, and next up are the personal trainers and group fitness staff with an average in friendliness of 9.6. You would like fellow tennis members to pick up their leftover balls after leaving the courts, you want people to stop sitting on their cell phones while on equipment and not using it, members hate hearing others talk on their cell phones, you wanted the rain gutters fixed on the weight patio strip (done), the majority seem to love the pool reservations while the other group of members hate them, members would like some new weight room equipment, you felt the cleanliness of the club had gone down until we hired the new housekeeper Regina, and the increase of more cars in the parking lot has been frustrating (soon to be fixed with the new fencing being installed to block off the trail entrance from our parking lot except for members). We read each survey and try hard to make sure they all receive a reply. Thanks for helping us be the best club we can be!

FebNLReminder.jpg

We have a few reminders:

  • Please do not sit on workout equipment while using your phone and not working out. Please go finish your thoughts somewhere else and then come back to the machine when you are ready to work out again. You never know who might be waiting to use that equipment.
  • No kids under 16 years of age are allowed in the adult locker rooms (in the main clubhouse). There is a large restroom at the small pool (next to the outdoor shower) that is great for changing. There is even a suit spinner right next to it. (The only exception to this are ladies nursing as there are private rooms inside the ladies' locker room that are most comfortable for this.)
  • Parking: It has been better lately with the help of the nice village patrolmen. Hopefully they are setting the tone to the public that they cannot park in our lot to use the Bob Jones Trail. There are two more steps in the works. One is that we are going to fence off the Bob Jones Trail access from our lot (this project has started, yay!), and install a pedestrian gate with a constantly changing code that we will give only to members if they check into the club. The third step is in the works. All of these systems should alleviate any parking issues in the future. Pleases remember:
    • DO NOT PARK in the spots designated for a particular business. They do have a right to tow you. There are a few in the Village – look for a sign at the head of their spots and/or lettering on the asphalt of the spot.
  • Please cancel your swim, tennis, or sauna reservation prior to 4 hours from the start time, or you will receive a $10 cancelation fee.
  • Cancel your swim, tennis, or sauna reservation if you are not coming. No shows receive a $20 fee. Please do be sure to check into the club or it will mark you as a no show for your reservations that day.
  • Cell phone policy – No talking on phones in all workout areas and locker rooms (this includes the small changing rooms in the adult women's locker room). Absolutely NO SPEAKER phone usage is allowed in any area of the club. This includes watching videos on the speaker.

Hygiene Essentials Drive

We are collecting hygiene essentials this month. Please bring the items to the bin in the lobby.
One in three families has difficulty affording personal hygiene products. Donations will be distributed by 22 local non-profit agencies.

WE ARE COLLECTING: (FULL BOTTLES, NEW ITEMS ONLY PLEASE)
-Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, liquid and bar soap
