Congratulations to our new Member of the Month!

Ginny Browne
Congratulations to our new Member of the Month Ginny Browne! Ginny has been a member at Avila Bay Athletic Club & Spa since last summer, after joining for the second time. She has lived in this area most of her life, other than her college years at UC Berkley and University of San Francisco. Ginny has been in family law for 30 years. She has recently been able to work a little less, allowing her to put herself first and concentrate more on her health. Ginny kick started her time here at the club by joining in our 2-set reset last year. She loved everything about it from Chef Brian's amazing meal plan, to Kristen and Danielle's motivating fitness push for success and achievement. Ginny credits her fellow participants Sandy and Diane for keeping her motivated to keep pushing through. She also has big appreciation to our trainers Kristen and Danielle, for pushing her and keeping her on track with her fitness goals. Her favorite thing about the club is the staff and members. Ginny appreciates and loves all the staff from Kat at the front desk, Amy in membership, to Miguel and Lucia in Maintenance. Ginny is part of the B tennis team, and takes lesson from Mike Marquez our tennis director. When Ginny is not at the club or at work, she enjoys spending time at her home in Arroyo Grande with her husband, goats, and dog, Abilene. It is really inspiring how Ginny has pushed herself and kept motivated to stay on a path of getting healthy and fit. ABAC is so proud to call her our Member of the Month. Congratulations again to Ginny Browne!

Congratulations to our new Employee of the Month!

Kat Burns
Congratulations to Employee of the Month, Kat Burns! Kat has worked at the club for about two and a half years now. She spent most of this time in the Oasis Grille's kitchen as a cook, and recently took on a new role as the daily opener at the front desk. Kat is a ball of energy and has really changed the atmosphere at the club with her kind, energetic, and goofy personality. She originally came to the area from Fullerton, Orange County, and has lived in the area for about 18 years now. Kat is married and has an adorable little three year old boy named Jase. She liked working in the kitchen, but really feels her new position suits her the best! Kat loves all the members and being able to get to know everyone. On her days off, she enjoys spending time at home with friends and family. We are so happy to have Kat at the front desk greeting all of our amazing members. Congratulations again Kat, we are so happy to have you here as part of the Avila Bay Athletic Club & Spa's family!

From the Spa…

What is massage?
img
Massage is rubbing the soft tissues of the body, such as the muscles. It may be helpful in reducing tension and pain, improving blood flow, and encouraging relaxation. Massage therapists usually apply pressure with their hands, but they can also use their forearms, elbows, or feet. There are at least 80 different types of massage. Some are gentle, and some are very active and intense.

For example, Swedish massage is very gentle and is often used to promote relaxation, improve blood flow, and relieve muscle tension. The therapist uses long, gliding strokes and kneading and tapping techniques on the top layer of muscles in the direction of blood flow to the heart. This may also include moving the joints gently to improve range of motion.

Deep tissue massage is more active and intense. It is used to treat long-lasting muscle tension. The therapist applies slow strokes (with the fingers, thumbs, and elbows) using intense pressure to reach deeper layers of the muscles than those reached with a Swedish massage technique. Some people feel that massage works because the touch is healing. Touch also communicates a sense of caring.

Visit us for CHAIR MASSAGE in the lobby 9:30-12:30 Monday through Friday. We can move the massage chair in the conference room or a massage room if available.

From The Salon...

Book A Facial Today!
img
Despite the lack of sunshine, skin receives little reprieve from the harsh UV rays of winter. This coupled with the drying effect of wind and the lack of humidity in the air can leave your skin irritated, scaly, and sallow.

A facial works to counteract these effects in three ways: by improving circulation, providing deep cleansing, and restoring moisture and hydration.

Improving facial circulation stimulates our skin's natural renewal, leaving your complexion younger looking and feeling smoother. Exfoliants, masks, and peels remove dead skin cells to reveal the new skin cells underneath. Exfoliation also allows ingredients to absorb more deeply into your skin, and boosts the benefits of your home care routine.

Schedule a facial with Christina and help your skin make a glowing transition from Winter to Spring!

The festivities will take place all day during club hours. Hope to see you in your green!

Hello Friends!
What a great month we had in February!
We would love to congratulate Hazel McKiernan on her Kid of the Month achievement. Hazel loves coming to play at Kids' Club and is the sweetest thing. She comes in eager to dive into the dolls and her imagination just explodes! Hazel is such a caring little lady that makes everyone in Kids' Club smile when she visits us. Tell her a big "great job!" next time you see her aroundthe club.

As always, please feel free to bring any questions or concerns to my attention. Email me at [email protected].

A new month means that it's time for new Parent's Night Out. Join us for another
exciting night of fun, friends, and food! It's that rare opportunity for you to drop off the
kids and leave the club to go out to dinner, run errands, or just go home and relax on
the couch. Join us March 11th from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. We take care of the dinner and
entertainment for the kiddos all night and send them back to you ready for bed. It is so
much fun for us to meet new friend, so invite some school or neighborhood friends to
join us.
