Five years into his Cal Poly coaching career, Nick has directed the Mustang men's tennis program to 69 total victories. This includes a 21-5 mark during Big West Conference Play. In his playing days at Cal Poly, Nick started as a freshman at No.4 singles. In doubles, his Mustang teams went a combined 14-9 in dual matches. He transferred to Fresno State and graduated in 2005.
In high school, Nick was a three-time All-American and a Dean's List student. As a youth player, he was ranked in the top five in northern CA in each age division, and was slotted as high as No. 40 nationally. Nick also instructed at the Malibu Summer Tennis Camp, and was the tennis director at the Visalia Racquet Club from 2004-2005.
"I'm a product of Cal Poly's 'learn by doing' philosophy, and athletics is a prime example," Carless said. "I look forward to coaching tennis to the members and being part of the Avila Bay Athletic Club & Spa family. My goal is to bring energy and fun to the Wednesday evening clinics and to provide a memorable experience."
